Prepare Your Kitchen For Christmas Dinner

We previously shared that most British adults spend an hour cleaning on Christmas day. Personally, we think this a travesty, losing time that should be spent being merry on the biggest day of the year. So here are some preparation tips for your kitchen that will help minimise cleaning time after Christmas dinner!

1. Cover your surfaces with cling film when cooking and plating up

This is a quick and cost-effective way to quickly clean your surfaces of all of the sauce, crumbs, and waste left behind once you have finished cooking.

2. Wash your dishes as you go along

There is nothing worse than having to wash up after slaving over a feast for hours. Make sure you wash as you go along. If your lucky to have a dishwasher, leave it open and throw your dishes in there as you go. Any early guests? Get them to help with this task

3. Use disposable plates, cups, and cutlery

At Christmas time, stores really bring out the fanciest disposable and recyclable dinnerware. This would ensure you spend minimal time washing up. Just dispose of them in your recycling bin.

4. Have plenty of Tupperware at hand

Tupperware is so important to keep the kitchen clean. Instead of leaving leftovers out, and you are bound to overcook, have some fridge freezer & microwave safe bowls ready to store away as soon as possible. That way you can wash up any pots and trays you have used straight away and keep the food fresh.

These are just a few of my tips for curbing the Christmas Day clean in the kitchen. I hope you have a restful and enjoyable Christmas!
